Association for International Mobility
AIM’s Vision
An open, efficient, fair and sustainable system of human mobility worldwide.
AIM’s Three Principal Missions
- To advance its vision of human mobility through persuasive advocacy.
- To serve as a meeting place for support groups engaged with foreign communities and through them to identify the unmet needs of mobile populations.
- To create profitable, mobility-based enterprises, especially through use of information technologies.
AIM’s Immediate Objectives
- Publish the Labour Mobility Index and use it to encourage governments to work towards creative, fair and workable mobility strategies.
- Create through internet links a global mobility corridor to enable migrants’ associations worldwide to interact and learn from one another.
- Set up a series of internet-based overseas workers service platforms through pilot projects in cities of the Mediterranean, the CIS countries and South Asia.
AIM’s Longer-Term Objectives
- New applications of information technology for the use and benefit of individuals with responsibilities in two or more countries.
- Support for temporary, circular systems of international mobility with guarantees of status and rights for non-citizens.
- Opportunities for investment back home by overseas workers, especially in job-creating micro-enterprises.
- Resolution of disputes arising in the operation of international mobility systems.
Why AIM Needs You
- AIM will advocate on your behalf, so we need to know your opinions.
- AIM will create sustainable services for mobile populations, and we need you to use them.
- AIM will provide a virtual meeting place for the thousands of associations and the millions of individuals in diasporas around the world, and we need to hear your voice.
