Our deepest condolences to Haiti

The Haitian earthquake is an immediate humanitarian tragedy and a long-term challenge for human mobility, both inside Haiti and internationally (in regular or irregular channels).

All of the members of AIM send their deepest condolences and extend our profound sympathy to the families of the victims. Our thoughts are with the government and people of Haiti. The two founders of AIM have visited Haiti in recent years, especially Brunson McKinley, who has strong connections in the country, where he was U.S. Ambassador. They both send their deepest condolences.

We hope you make donations for those suffering from this devastating earthquake, and if you believe that AIM itself might play a useful role, we would be happy to hear from you and work on it.

The first year of our Association’s existence bore witness to good progress in the better management of human mobility.

After the launch of the Association in Davos in January, we set to work on conceptualizing the Services Platform for Mobile Populations. Our idea is to provide diasporas with a secure and convenient internet facility for all kinds of transactions specific to the needs of mobile populations.

With the Fondation Hassan II, the Moroccan institution charged with maintaining relations with Moroccans abroad, we signed our first MOU. As a result, the Hassan II website is currently being updated to accommodate a Moroccan services platform.

AIM is in active discussion with partners in Russia and India to create jointly with them similar services platforms for their own overseas communities.

We have refined our approach to the Labour Mobility Index and hope to launch it soon. AIM organized a successful and interesting two-day session on international mobility on the occasion of the World Public Forum’s Dialogue of Civilizations in Rhodes, Greece, October 8-11, 2009. The publication by AIM and the World Public Forum of the Rhodes Declaration on Human Mobility, which you will find on this website, marked an important step in encouraging governments and civil society to address mobility as one of the fundamental factors in the development of global society in the 21st century.

Rabat, 7 April 2009. La Fondation Hassan II, responsable pour les relations avec les Marocains Résidant à l’Etranger, a signé aujourd'*** un Mémorandum d’Accord avec l’Association pour la Mobilité internationale (AIM) pour la mise en place d’une Plateforme de Services pour les Marocains de l’Extérieur, basée sur l’Internet (PSM). La plateforme utilisera la technologie Web 2.0 et ouvrira d’intéressantes nouvelles possibilités pour la prestation de services à la communauté marocaine en Europe.
AIM est une association d’entreprises, de fondations et d’experts, basée à Genève en Suisse, qui œuvre en faveur d’un système de mobilité ouvert, efficace, juste et durable. Wisekey S.A., un leader dans le domaine de la sécurisation d’identité sur Internet, et l’OISTE, gardien de la confidentialité de l’Internet, collaboreront dans le projet.

Qu’est-ce qu’est la PSM ?

La PSM est un nouvel outil numérique, sûr et facile à utiliser, pour répondre aux besoins des Marocains qui résident et travaillent hors du pays. A un seul portail Internet, les utilisateurs pourront partager des informations, accéder à des services gouvernementaux et commerciaux, effectuer des transactions en toute sécurité et confidentialité et créer une communauté Internet qui renforcera le poids des Marocains à l’étranger dans les questions politiques et économiques aussi bien au Maroc que dans les pays d’accueil.

Comment fonctionnera la PSM ?

Tout commencera par une identité Internet personnelle et bien protégée que chaque individu établira et gardera pour son usage exclusif -- un système qui a déjà fait ses preuves dans les élections suisses et dans beaucoup d’autres applications. Grâce à une clef privée, chaque utilisateur deviendra le gardien de sa propre identité et se trouvera en mesure de remplir des centaines de tâches en secret, en sécurité et en confidentialité totale.

Pourquoi a-t-on besoin de la PSM ?

Les Marocains à l’étranger rencontrent tous les défis habituels de la vie quotidienne, mais doivent en même temps faire face à une série de problèmes spécifiques à leur statut de membres d’une communauté étrangère.
Il n’existe à présent rien de comparable à la PSM -- une plateforme de services qui regroupe la multiplicité d’offres gouvernementales, commerciales et de la société civile en un seul endroit et donne aux utilisateurs, de façon permanente, directe, pratique et anonyme, accès à un seul portail Internet employant les technologies Web 2.0 et de réseau social dans un contexte multilingue.

Qui bénéficiera de la PSM ?

La communauté entière des Marocains à l’étranger en tirera avantage. Travailleurs et professionnels pourront y chercher un travail, des cours de formation, des investissements, une maison ou une deuxième maison. Etudiants et jeunes se sentiront particulièrement à l’aise dans l’environnement offert par la PSM pour « l’e-learning », le tissage de réseaux personnels et la validation de diplômes. Les retraités y trouveront de nouvelles opportunités pour transférer leur expérience au bénéfice du Maroc. Les autorités locales y communiqueront plus facilement sans compromettre le droit à l’anonymat de la communauté marocaine.

Qu’est-ce que la PSM fera exactement ?

Une fois lancée, la PSM fournira

• Un environnement Internet fiable, sûr et mobile pour les Marocains et les organisations qui leur rendent service.
• Un outil pour améliorer la vie de famille des Marocains en les aidant à
            --garder le contact avec leurs parents et avec leurs villes et villages au Maroc
             --établir des réseaux entre eux
            --accéder aux services gouvernementaux tels que santé, éducation et élections
            --identifier des opportunités de travail et de formation
            --acquérir des certifications d’études et de travail et les valider
            --et gérer beaucoup d’autres besoins spécifiques.
• Un forum pour permettre aux organisations non gouvernementales et au secteur privé de dialoguer et d’offrir leur assistance.
• Un réseau Internet pour l’échange d’information au sujet de l’offre et de la demande de travail sur le plan local et international.
• Une source fiable d’informations concernant les visas et les autres droits et règles administratives dans le pays d’accueil.
• Un tableau d’affichage pour les autorités locales.
• Un point focal pour annoncer des programmes d’encouragement d’investissement pour les Marocains à l’étranger.
• Une ressource pour les efforts du Maroc en matière de renforcement de capacités.
• Une contribution à la solidarité des Marocains, qui utiliseront le PSM pour coordonner leurs efforts caritatifs.
• Un champ d’épanouissement pour le télétravail et pour la création de petites et moyennes entreprises.
• Une plateforme fiable et confidentielle pour les transactions.
• Et un instrument d’influence sans égal pour les communautés marocaines à l’extérieur.

Qui sont les promoteurs de la PSM ?

La Fondation Hassan II porte la responsabilité avec le gouvernement marocain de gérer les contacts avec les Marocains résidant à l’extérieur et d’œuvrer en faveur de leurs conditions de vie. L’Association pour la Mobilité internationale (AIM) regroupe des organisations, des hommes et femmes d’affaires et des experts privés attachés à promouvoir un système mondial de mobilité humaine ouvert, efficace, équitable et durable. L’Organisation internationale pour la Sécurité des Transactions électroniques (OISTE) garantit la confidentialité de l’Internet et garde ses codes dans des bunkers sécurisés en Suisse. AIM, together with IH&RA, Manpower, Oxford Analytica &WISeKey will launch Labor Mobility Index at World Economic Forum in Davos

(Forimmediaterelease.net) GENEVA, Switzerland - Based in Geneva, the Association for International Mobility (AIM) was established in cooperation with corporate and civil society partners to enable the private sector to act directly and effectively on the major economic, social, and humanitarian challenges of human mobility.

The International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IH&RA), one of the founding partners, has played a leading role in the Labor Mobility Index to be launched at the 2009 World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Labor Mobility Index will allow governments and private sector companies to monitor progress on labor mobility policy and practice via the Internet. The Index will include an analysis of legislation, regulation, institutional behavior, openness of markets to foreign workers, services provided to them, and measures for their integration, permanent or temporary.

“IH&RA has been working on this subject of labor mobility in the hospitality industry for years, as our industry is still the first industry in the world that’s reducing poverty by hiring more and more labors and trying to care about the shortage worldwide," said Dr. Ghassan Aidi, president of IH&RA. “The Labor Mobility Index will be a powerful tool in advancing AIM’s vision of an open, efficient, fair, and sustainable system of human mobility worldwide," said AIM co-chair, Brunson McKinley.

The Association for International Mobility advocates on behalf of a more open and flexible international labor mobility; encourages commercially-viable services to foreign workers and the communities they live in, especially through use of mobility technology; and serves as a point of reference and assistance for civil society groups working in the field of human mobility.
In all its work, AIM is a key player to develop new methods to facilitate mobility of mabor and recommend solutions in seeking to reinforce the influence and capacity of other actors in international human mobility - individuals, businesses, civil society, government and local authorities, and organizations - and will emphasize the humanitarian dimension of international mobility.
